The National Institute of Drug Abuse (NIDA) is the lead federal agency supporting scientific research on drug use and its consequences. NIDA has produced resources on the science of addiction, how the adolescent brain is more vulnerable to addiction, and materials for educators and parents. Click here to learn more about the NIDA.

The New England Prevention Technical Transfer Center (PTTC) provides training and technical assistance services to the professional and volunteer prevention workforce within the New England states and is developing a diverse program with multiple modes of training and information dissemination. The National Prevention Technology Transfer Center (PTTC) Network was created in order to improve implementation and delivery of effective substance abuse prevention interventions, and provide training and technical assistance services to the substance abuse prevention field. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is the agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that leads public health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the nation. SAMHSA's mission is to reduce the impact of substance misuse and mental illness on America's communities and provides the state block grant funding for substance abuse treatment and prevention.
