12 Sector Series: Youth

In this segment of the 12 Sector Collaboration Series, we are exploring Youth and Youth engagement! Our guest speakers for this month (Nov 2020) will share their work in engaging youth:

Stand Together Danbury The Teen Leadership Health Council, comprising youth from two Danbury High Schools, creates school based prevention initiatives and ensures consistent messaging. Youth members planned a mental health awareness day at their schools and educate younger peers.

Durham Middlefield Wellness Coalition The Excellent Decisions Guiding Everyday (EDGE) clubs are at the high school and middle school. Youth create social marketing campaigns, We Know the Risks; educate peers on Safe Dating and healthy choices; and create public service announcements.

Vernon ROCKS! Real Talk a the campaign created by youth members to encourage family and peer prevention conversation. Youth produce their own talk show for local cable access TV and present to the Board of Education and Town Council.
