The Trumbull Prevention Partnership partnered with the local EMS to provide free Narcan kits - and training on how to use them - to residents. In an interview with NBC Connecticut about the program, Melissa McGarry, program director for the coalition, explained that the program is working to provide education about addiction and to reduce the stigma related to opioid misuse and overdose. Beyond providing education on how to use the product, the program aims to prepare citizens mentally for the moment they may have to use naloxone to save a loved one. The class is held multiple times a year and participants get two doses of naloxone to keep, provided by the CT Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS).
