12 Sector Collaboration Series: Youth

A monthly in-depth look and discussion around a specific sector to build engagement within your coalition and community.  Each event will 

  1. Explore ways to engage the specific sector in each of the Strategic Prevention Framework steps
  2. Highlight guest speakers to share their experience
  3. Discuss barriers and strategies to overcome them
  4. Provide tools and resources to increase sector participation

Guest speakers will share their work with youth:

Terry Budlong, Stand Together Danbury

The Teen Leadership Health Council, comprising youth from two Danbury High Schools, creates school based prevention initiatives and ensures consistent messaging. Youth members planned a mental health awareness day at their schools and educate younger peers.

Dena Miccinello, Durham Middlefield Wellness Coalition

The Excellent Decisions Guiding Everyday (EDGE) clubs are at the high school and middle school.  Youth create social marketing campaigns, We Know the Risks; educate peers on Safe Dating and healthy choices; and create PSAs.

Cassie Schend, Vernon ROCKS!

Real Talk is the campaign youth members created to encourage family and peer prevention conversation.  Youth also produced their own talk show for local cable access TV and presented to the Board of Education and Town Council.

Creating an account and using the log-in before registering fills in the registration form with a registrant's information.  Completed trainings registered through an account log-in are added to a downloadable transcript for certification, supervision, etc.  If you don't receive a registration confirmation from Prevention Portal, check you spam or junk email.
